Harvey does Shortlands proud

Club junior Harvey Byers finished in a tie for second place at the National HSBC Wee Wonders Finals at St Andrews.

Harvey was in second place after 2 rounds 5 shots behind Mark Power from Northern Ireland. The par on the 9 hole course was 30 and he shot rounds of 34, 31 and 31. He chased him right to the last and closed the gap to just one.

On the 9th with exciting birdies on the 6th and 8th holes. TV cameras were following him up the fairway on the last! He hit a great 7 iron to the last but hit it too well and finished 30 feet past the pin.

Mark Power hit an 8 iron to 12 feet. Harvey lipped out on his 30 ft putt then Mark holed for birdie. Harvey ending up losing the title by 2 strokes, tied on 96 with Arun Sing Brar who came out of the pack.

The top 3 finishers have been selected to represent Great Britain & Ireland at Pinehurst in the World Championships next Summer so Harvey is elated.

Shortlands members are expecting Harvey to be World No.1 by the spring... No pressure!
